students use technology within the basic curriculum to improve learning.
Kindergarten Students
and Technology
Language
Arts skills learned in Kindergarten, in combination with computer and technology
skills help to cement
skills for beginning reading and writing.
Grade 1 Students and Technology
In Grade
1, students continue to work on beginning reading and writing skills.
Technology provides a wonderful
format for practicing these skills.
Grade 2 Students and
Technology
In Grade 2, students begin
to develop paragraphs and various writing styles.
Using technology, students
begin to develop word processing, skills of keyboarding
and formatting, and publishing
their work using a variety of software.
Grade 3 Students and
Technology
In Grade 3 the skills
of multiple paragraph development for content and creative writing,
editing and beginning research
is emphasized. Technology skills including keyboarding,
formatting, use of pictures,
and storyboarding overlay more advanced writing skills.
Grade 4 Students
and Technology
Students in Grade 4 begin
to work on formal reports and essays using the encyclopedia
and the Internet for research.Formal
editing is stressed. After final writing is developed
students publish and format
their work, adding voice, pictures, and sound. Keyboarding
continues to be emphasized.
Grade 5 Students
and Technology
Students in Grade 5 continue
to expand their writing skills with editing, use of the
Internet for research, creation
of the student newspaper, The Inquirer. Presentations
such as student websites
or reports are created from projects using Microsoft PowerPoint,
the Electronic Encyclopedia,
AppleWorks, and HyperStudio.
