“Memories and Dreams”
Jefferson Class of 1998 reflects back on the memories of our elementary school days:

Kindergarten Memories

It was the first day of school in my WHOLE life.
When I first came I didn’t know anyone, but I quickly found friends.
I  made my first friend.
I made it all the way across the monkey bars for the first time.
In kindergarten I remember my teacher having a baby.
I planted a pumpkin plant.
I went to the “Big Kid” cafeteria with crates to get  milk.
I got  milk for my row.
I made a Christmas tree out of clay and gumdrops in Mrs. Henry’s class.
I  sucked glue out of the bottle.
I learned the ABC’s.
Zero the Hero visited us.
I liked having big buddies.
We played tag in the sand.
We played with the blocks and ate cookies.
During snacktime a kid always opened his mouth and showed us his food.
I played house in the little house.
I made finger paint pictures
 

First Grade Memories

I learned to read.
Miss Lacker taught me to add and subtract.
I did math packets in Mrs. Jetton’s room.
We went on a field trip to the farm.
We made a farm and I remember our baby chicks.
I hatched chicks.
I remember winning first place for photography in Reflections.
We met Timmy the Tooth.
We rang song bells in Mrs. McCrary’s room.
I told my first joke.
I got red cards ALL the time.

Second Grade Memories

We were kickball champions.
We learned about water.
My favorite teacher was Miss Caselman.  She helped me through my
  first year at Jefferson.
We made gingerbread houses.
Mrs. Champlin played the piano.
We always did homework booklets.
We made clay hearts for Mother’s Day.
We sang Chicken Soup with Rice with Mrs. Yantz.
I took my first test.
Mrs. Reiner was so nice.  She always read us stories.
One time, two frogs climbed up her dress!
We saw caterpillars make coccoons and become butterflies.
We performed our program called “America” for everyone.
In the dance festival, we had to dance with boys, YUK!
I was embarrassed when my mom hugged me and blew kisses at me
  when she was a room mother.

Third Grade Memories

I went out to lunch with Mrs. Faust for acing all my spelling tests.
I learned how to weave
We did fun things in the garden with Miss B.
I forgot it was picture day. I was wearing ugly clothes.
I ran in the sprinklers.
We had Right To Read Days
We went to the tide pools in Miss Barnhart’s class.
I learned my multiplication tables by heart.
I did a country dance.
I played basketball and made my first dunk.
I was Janie in our Mr. Popper’s Penguins Play.
I played the tonette in Mrs. Rubin’s class.
We performed When I Grow Up.
I was a plumber.
I was a singer.
I played the piano.

Fourth Grade Memories

If you got all your homework done, you were able to go to free time    with Miss B.
I played silent ball in Miss Derian’s class.
My best teacher ever was Mrs. Guadagnolo.
We had auctions and read-ins.
I had Miss Koontz and it was a four-five combination. I was also in   student council.
We went to Satweewa.
We had multicultural day.
We sold ice cream in Miss Kinzel’s class.
We ran through the sprinklers and did the Macarena.
I studied all the regions of California.
On hot days Miss Derian would let my class eat ice cream.
I sold the most wrapping paper.
In Mrs. Scott’s class we played “Gold Rush”.

Outdoor Science School Memories

I had the most fun doing our skit.
Our skit was about ecosystems.
We went on night hikes.
I went on a solo walk.
We had the best behaved cabin.
I had the best people in my cabin.
We went dancing.
The hikes were great, but they were really long!
Seven hours long!
We learned about plants and animals.
I loved the evening campfires.
I loved hiking to the top of the hill.
It was the best thing ever!

Fifth Grade Memories

I won the school Art Expo.
I did lots of fun history and math in Mrs. Elm’s class.
We did discovery and my colony did great!
I painted a modern day Mona Lisa.
In Miss Itkin’s class we made a human body
We also made Earth Day Books.
I ate mealworm pizza.  So did Miss B.!
I dissected an owl pellet.
We dissected a lamb’s heart.
I dissected a frog and got to take it home.
I liked the science we did with Mrs. Brackin and Mr. Reed.
I did a Tall Tales Book Report.
I was captain of our soccer team.
We studied the stock exchange.
I liked Outdoor Science School.
I liked going to Knott’s Berry Farm.
I went on the log ride.
On April Fool’s Day, Miss B. got us really good.
I had the most Accelerated Reader points in my class!

Garden Memories

We planted plants and we watered them until they grew.
We tasted our radishes.
We wrote poetry in our garden.
The very first day we planted in our garden was a lot of fun.
We watered everyday so our garden really grew great.
Our sunflowers grew the best.
I planted vegetables that we got to eat before summer.
I planted spinach seeds.
It was fun when I weeded and got really dirty.

We couldn’t have done it without some important people, though.
    Thanks mom and dad for cheering us up after a bad day.
    Thanks mom and dad for being  our number one supporters.
    Thanks mom and dad for helping out with special school projects.
    Thanks teachers for taking the time to make learning fun.
    Thanks teachers for telling us we could do it.
    Thanks teachers for writing those nice things on our papers.
    Thanks Mrs. Perske for all the fun recess activities.
    Thanks Mrs. Perske for working hard to make Jefferson great!
    And thanks to each other.  Without friends, where would we be?
