BHS
Groundhog Job Shadowing Day Dear Parent, This year we would like to offer you the unique experience of being involved in Groundhog Job Shadowing Day by taking your child to work with you! This School-To-Career connection has been designed to help students make critical link between the classroom and the workplace. We hope that students will better understand the importance and relevance of their education as they will see first-hand the range of knowledge and skills a job requires, regardless of the job or its location. In addition, they will gather valuable career information to assist the in making career decisions for the rest of their lives, regardless if they continue at a college, trade school, the military, or if they enter the work force directly after high school. Your child is being given the opportunity to shadow you or with permission, any other person at your job site willing to participate in this program. Although February 2nd is the official Job Shadow Day, all of February can be alternative dates to accommodate your place of employment. If possible, the student could rotate from department to department to see an overall picture of the world of work. The key concepts of the program are relevance of schoolwork, necessary workplace skill, teamwork, connection between learning and earning, and an introduction to careers. If you choose to participate in Groundhog
Job Shadowing, please have your child pick up a shadowing packet in the
Career Center, room 205. Thank you,
