Mr. Keith Lang
Teacher of the Year

In 1997, Monterey staff selected Mr. Keith Lang as our "Teacher of the Year." It is a testament to the excellence of Mr. Lang that he was selected in only his second year of teaching on our staff. Mr. Lang teaches all social studies courses at Monterey including world history, American history, American government, economics, current events and geography.

When Mr. Lang joined our staff in the 1995-96 school year, he had just completed his student teaching experience with the Bellflower school system. A recent graduate from Cal State University at Long Beach, his enthusiasm for teaching as well as his subject matter were readily seen by students and staff. Mr. Lang revises all our curricular offerings to include many more opportunities for student writing. Additionally he rewrote our curriculum to encourage student use of current technology within the classrooms at Monterey.

Mr. Lang is also a strong advocate of using directed teaching within the continuation setting. The student success rate in these classes is dramatic because of Mr. Lang's commitment and dedication. Mr. Keith Lang is an outstanding example of excellent teaching found within the halls of Monterey High School.
