We at McKinley are proud of our status as a California Distinguished School. We received this honor after writing a very complete application describing all facets of the school, and receiving a visit by State Department personnel to verify claims through observations and meetings with staff, parents, and children. |

We wrote a winning grant for $5,000 for the 1999-2000 school year to improve communication with walkie-talkies on the playground, provide students with optional lunch clubs, and to participate in a Healthy Start application in the Spring of 2000. |
City of Burbank |
We received a grant from the city which helped us purchase new playground equipment. It was installed the summer of 2000. We held a special dedication ceremony in the Fall of 2000. |
