PROVIDENCIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

At Providencia there is never a dull moment! Nestled in the Northwest corner of Burbank, between the bustling Burbank Airport and a small residential area, Providencia Elementary School proudly services 523 students. Our school community is rich in cultural diversity.

Our staff is a dynamic group of dedicated professionals who champion innovation and risk-taking while adhering to standards set by the state and district. Our vision is for all students to become life long learners. Extensive collaboration and articulation about the learning process has increased our ability to meet the needs of our students and has resulted in exciting new programs, such as our Extended Day Kindergarten. Summer Workshop Committees have developed ways to positively impact our diverse population; committee outcomes have included such innovative programs as Literature Week, Multiculture Week, History Day, Career Day, and our Science Fair.

Providencia maintains a close alliance with parents, members of the community, and local industry through on-going partnerships, Providencia is proud of its freshly painted school, thanks to parent volunteers and a partnership with L.A. Works. Annual events, such as hosting our Community Read-In, “Environmentality Day” with The Walt Disney company, and Technology PAC RAT Nights, bring exciting learning experiences, as well as support for our school.

Providencia is proud to be on the cutting edge of technology, being the first school in the Burbank Unified School District to be linked to the Internet and the World Wide Web. After receiving a SB 1510 Technology Grant, we expanded our Technology program by involving families in multiple evening workshops.

PROVIDENCIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GUIDELINES

Attendance/Absences

It is important for every student to be in school regularly and punctually.

In order for the school district to comply with state law, parents need to send a note explaining the reason for your child's absence or tardiness.

Please include the following:

  • Date of absence (s)
  • Reason for absences (s)
  • Parent signature

Tardies

Tardies will affect "citizenship" grades. Repeated tardies can lead to parent conferences and more serious consequences through the office.

Teachers may assign appropriate consequences for tardies (clean-up, detention, etc.)

Homework

It is your child's responsibility to bring in his/her homework. Please help him/her remember by establishing a place where your child can do his/her homework. Returning the completed assignments to school is equally as important. Students will not be allowed to call home for forgotten assignments.

Telephone Policy

Students will not be allowed to use the school telephone except for emergencies. Emergencies include problems, accidents, etc.

Be sure to make arrangements in advance with your child in case of rain.

Parents/Visitors in the School

To ensure the safety of our students, I must ask that all parents/visitors SIGN IN at the OFFICE and get a NAME TAG. Parents are welcome on campus with a name tag.

Safety Concern

Please do not double park when dropping off or picking up your child. Please park your car and use the crosswalks. Set a good example for your child.
