Mission Statement
The faculty, administration, parents and students of John Burroughs High School believe that our school should prepare students for academic, vocational and personal success as active citizens in a democracy. Our school will be supportive, responsive to the needs of our students and community, provide positive role models for our students and have high expectations of excellence to achieve our mission.

EXPECTED SCHOOLWIDE LEARNING RESULTS
John Burroughs High School Students should:
  1. Be able to communicate effectively using a variety of media.
  2. Exhibit academic skills and use the processes learned to solve problems.
  3. Use the higher order thinking skills of application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation in their daily work.
  4. Use technology to access, organize, evaluate and communicate information.
  5. Show creativity, originality, resourcefulness, and ingenuity in their daily work.
  6. Develop a road map for high school and beyond leading to a career.
  7. Display an understanding of basic living skills.
  8. Be a contributing member of a community.
  9. Be personally responsible and honest, show respect for others.
Required Proficiency Tests:
Reading, Written Language, and Math
Homework
Homework may be assigned daily in each subject. All students need to complete homework as assigned. Completion of homework is a vital component in course advancement.

Pupil Discipline Policy
The following discipline rules have been adopted for John Burroughs High School.
Students are expected to always:
demonstrate appropriate concern for the safety of themselves and others.
be respectful of school employees and fellow students.
take appropriate care of all school property and equipment.
comply with directives given by school officials or authorized school personnel.
cooperate in maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
